Recently I learned that one of my favorite artists lost her Instagram account, which she had carefully built over 10 years, due to her artwork. This deletion now threatens her ability to ship internationally and could lead to the loss of her shipping account if she doesn't meet her quotas soon.
The situation is frustrating because it reveals the inconsistencies and unfairness of social media regulations. It feels unjust that an artist who invested so much effort into building her audience can have everything taken away without warning, especially when other similar accounts remain active. This has put her livelihood at risk, highlighting how powerless artists can be against algorithms and policies that don't recognize their dedication or allow them a chance to defend themselves. This lack of control and the sense of being unfairly targeted amplify feelings of frustration and helplessness.
